How to Become a Coach (Accreditation Process)

Becoming an accredited pickleball coach with Pickleball Australia is a clear and rewarding process. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to formalise your experience, follow these steps to begin your journey:

Step 1: Decide Which Coaching Level Suits You

Start by selecting the coaching level that best matches your current skills, experience, and goals:

  • Introductory Coach – Designed for volunteers supporting beginner sessions/ come and try sessions at clubs.

  • Foundation Coach (Level 1) – For coaches working with beginner to intermediate players.

  • Development Coach (Level 2) – For experienced coaches supporting regular or competitive players.

  • Performance Coach – Specialist pathways for youth or high-performance coaching.

See our Coaching Pathways section for full level descriptions.

Step 2: Enrol in Your Coaching Course

Visit the Pickleball Australia Education Hub to enrol in the coaching course you require.

Access the Education Hub

The Education Hub contains:

  • Introductory Coach Workshop registration

  • Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) pathway

  • Course information, documents, and online learning modules

Step 3: Use the Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Pathway (If Applicable)

If you already have relevant coaching experience or accreditations (e.g. from other providers), you may be eligible to fast-track your qualification.

The Level 1 (Foundation) Coaching Course is launching later this year. Until its release, only Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) is available for this level.

To complete your RPL for Level 1 or Level 2:

  • Enrol into the RPL course relevant to your current Pickleball Coaching Accreditation in the Education Hub

  • Provide evidence of experience and prior qualifications and complete the required pre-requisites through the course modules as document uploads.

  • Undertake any required assessment tasks
