Australian Rankings FAQs
1. How do I receive an Australian Ranking?
Players can receive an official Australian Ranking (AR) by participating in an official Pickleball Australia, Australian Ranking (AR) Tournament.
2. What categories can I play in to receive an Australian Ranking?
Australian Ranking categories include Opens, Juniors (18 and Under), 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and ParaPickleball.
3. How many tournaments will count towards my Australian Ranking?
A players best 10 results in singles, doubles and mixed doubles formats will count towards their Australian Ranking.
4. Can I have multiple rankings?
Yes.
Example: Bill is 52 years old. Across the year, Bill chooses to play in Opens and 50+ categories at different tournaments. Bill's results at each of these tournament will count towards his ranking in that particular category. Bill CANNOT have his points transferred to a different category.
Bill's best 6 50+ results will count toward his 50+ ranking.
Bill's best 6 Open results will count toward his Open ranking.
As Bill has played in both Opens and 50+ categories, he will have an Opens and 50+ ranking.
5. Which skill level events will contribute to my AR?
Only the highest skill bracket in each AR tournament will contribute to a players ranking. Example:
Jean is playing at the NSW Championships and wants to attain an Australian Ranking. The events in Jeans 70+ age group include 2.99 and under, 3.0-3.49 and 3.5 and above. To attain a ranking Jean MUST play in the 3.5 and above skill bracket. There will be NO AR points for the lesser brackets.
AR events will be clearly marked on the Pickleball Brackets file as "AR".
6. How does the points distribution work?
* If a particular event has less then 8 players/teams in the draw a small draw reduction of 50% of the available points will be allocated.
7. Where will Australian Ranking (AR) tournaments take place?
Australian Ranking tournaments will take place in each State and Territory across Australia in 2025. A full list can be found on the sanctioned tournaments page and identified by their tier of ranking.
8. Can International players receive an AR?
If an International player plays in an AR tournament they will receive AR points towards their AR.
