2025 AMC Wrap-Up
From Clubs to Nationals: The AMC Journey
Over 1,200 club-level players entered the AMC across Australia, competing in 50+, 60+ and 70+ age categories.
The format saw players advance from local club leagues (lasting between 10–12 weeks) to Regional Qualifiers in June, then State Qualifiers in August, with top performers earning a place on their state’s team for the national finals.
For the finals, each state fielded teams of 8 players (4 men + 4 women per age-group). Some teams were made up of combined players from states where minimum numbers could not be met. Matches included Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Wins counted for points, and ties went to a “Master Breaker” decider.
Showdown at Pimpama: The Finals
States representing New South Wales (NSW), Queensland (QLD), Victoria (VIC), grouped Tasmania/ACT (TASACT) and Western Australia/South Australia/Northern Territory (WASANT) competed in a round-robin over two days.
By the end of the pool rounds, the top teams advancing to the finals were:
50+ QLD v NSW
60+ QLD v NSW
70+ QLD v NSW
In finals played on Sunday, state pride was on the line, and the competition was fierce.
What this Means for pickleball in Australia
The success of the first-ever AMC demonstrates that there’s strong appetite and depth, among older-age players (50+) for structured, national-level competition, while still keeping the experience social and club-oriented.
For many participants, the AMC served as either an introduction to organised pickleball beyond casual play, or a new chapter in their ongoing pickleball journey. As promised, the AMC will return in 2026, with even more opportunities for club playing “Masters” to get involved.
