Club Spotlight - Port Bouvard Recreation and Sporting Club
Written by Club Admin Caroline Markby
The Port Bouvard Recreation and Sporting Club (PBRSC), offers a huge variety of activities and programs for local residents and the wider community in the Mandurah and Dawesville area. It is a proudly community driven club, bringing people together through sport, recreation and organised social activities. It is well placed and is a key recreational hub in the region.
At its core, PBRSC is built on the philosophy of ensuring we have an inclusive and welcoming environment. We encourage participation and believe there is “Something for Everyone” at the club. By encouraging all members to connect, relax and enjoy themselves, where the aim to have fun and not just win, we are able to be inclusive of all abilities. This balance between recreation and community is what distinguishes the PBRSC from the more traditional sporting clubs.
The success of the club is also driven by a group of dedicated volunteers who give their time to organise activities, maintain facilities and support members.
Pickleball started at the club with existing tennis courts being remarked for multi purpose, and has grown exponentially and with many new and younger members joining the club.
We have the perfect scenic location along side the Estuary and facilities with 8 pickleball courts in action with the possibility to expand to 12 in the future. We offer a range of game formats to keep play interesting, along with dedicated times for beginners.
PBRSC has 2 qualified PPR coaches who assist newcomers to learn the sport.
Pickleball alone has over 120 players with 60 members attending regularly. Currently we run 4 weekly sessions, with spontaneous drill sessions available to members. This has ensured the club remains dynamic, inclusive and will be a vibrant asset for years to come.
Looking ahead, the Club continues to focus on sustainable growth and expanding opportunities for engagement with the local community.
