
Mia La Burniy joins the PAA Board
Pickleball Australia Association (PAA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mia La Burniy as a director on the Pickleball Australia Association Board as of January 2025.
Mia is an accomplished legal, governance, risk and compliance and strategy professional. Mia has 12+ years of legal and corporate strategy experience in the entertainment, sports and professional services industries, both nationally and internationally.
Mia has developed skills in diverse areas of law, including Corporate and Commercial, Property, Corporate Governance, Competition and Consumer, Strategic Planning, Risk Management and Dispute Resolution.
Mia is the current General Counsel and Company Secretary at AWH Pty Ltd and also the Company Secretary of IWD Pty Ltd an AWH associated company. Prior to joining AWH, Mia was the Executive Director, Strategy and General Counsel at the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mia is also a Non-Executive Director and the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee of Red Dust Role Models, a non-for-profit organisation that aspires to improve the lives of Indigenous youth.
Mia currently holds a Victorian Legal Practising Certificate, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice from Griffith University and a Graduate Certificate in Business from Swinburne University.
On her appointment Mia commented, "I'm thrilled to join the Pickleball Australia Board and help guide the future of this exciting, rapidly growing sport." "I'm looking forward to collaborating with the board to help pickleball become a top participation sport in Australia."
Mia joins exisiting Director and Board Chairwoman Jen Ramamurthy, Vice Chairman, Nicholas Cooper and Directors, Kaden Hensel, Jodie Dunstan, Amy Hill, Nikhil Shetty, James Sharley, Chris Pascoe and David Swartz.
