Welcoming Our Newest QLD and WA State Administrators
Pickleball Australia (PA) is delighted to announce the additions of Deb Baird and Ekaterina Vitra as the new State Administration Officers for Queensland and Western Australia, respectively.
Based on the Gold Coast, Deb is a valued member of the Gold Coast Pickleball Club and a true lover of the game. What draws her most to pickleball is its truly is a game for everyone, regardless of age or ability, combining fun, social connection, and healthy competition.
Outside of pickleball, Deb is a keen golfer, enjoys getting out on her mountain bike when the weather allows, and loves spending time camping and gardening.
Deb brings a strong professional background in Event Management, Executive Assistance, and Association Administration. These roles have equipped her with exceptional organisational skills, people management experience, and clear, confident communication, all of which she brings to her new role. Deb is excited to join PA.
"I am absolutely thrilled to have joined Pickleball Australia, representing Queensland, and to be part of this passionate and growing sporting community," she said.
Ekaterina is based in Bunbury, two hours south of Perth. She has been an passionate player and active member of the pickleball community for 2.5 years.
Through her local club, Pickleball Bunbury, she has witnessed firsthand how much this inclusive and adaptive sport can bring people together, brighten people's day and give a new spark in life. She is a Member of her club's Committee, the Club Secretary, a Session Coordinator, and a Level 1 Referee.
With a background in administration, customer service, and business operations, Ekaterina is excited to bring a practical, people-focused approach to supporting members, clubs, and all players in WA. She is passionate about the growth of pickleball and the strong sense of community around the sport, and is excited to contribute to Pickleball WA’s continued development.
"I am honoured to be joining the Team and to be given an opportunity to participate in the blossoming of Pickleball as a sport and an activity for all ages and backgrounds in Western Australia," she said. "I enjoy watching people having a great time on the courts, whether it's a relaxed social play or a strong competitive session, making friends, laughing, and absolutely loving the sport. There is no better reward than that'.
