Club Spotlight - Hallidays Point Pickleball Club
As part of our series of club spotlights, Pickleball Australia reached out to the Hallidays Point Pickleball Club to learn more about their community in New South Wales

Pickleball had its humble beginnings at Hallidays Point in April of 2019 on an unused tennis court in an over 55’s park, with about eight regular players. At the beginning of 2020, the local tennis club invited us to play on their courts, which doubled our playing surface and doubled the number of players who joined us.
In October of 2020, the tennis club resurfaced their courts, which was great for the tennis players, but unfortunately, not so great for pickleball as the ball did not bounce enough. Time to find another venue.
November 2020 found us on a local netball court, where we were able to mark out four pickleball courts. We book this facility through the local Council, and as we needed public liability insurance, made the decision to affiliate with Pickleball NSW and immediately incorporated as an association.
With a strong focus on fun and friendship and an embedded culture of inclusivity, Hallidays Point Pickleball Club Inc has grown from 14 foundation members to 154 members. Our members range in age from 12 to 86 years of age. Our club provides beginner sessions, social play, coaching sessions, league play and also provides lessons to local school groups.
We play at two venues, one being an outdoor pickleball only facility with 9 courts at Wrigley Park, Taree. This was achieved through the generous support of the local Federal Member, local Council and then club members who provided expertise, labour and funds to prepare, mark out, and paint the courts.
Hallidays Point Pickleball Club Inc has hosted 3 regional tournaments and are preparing to host our first seniors tournament with 4 teams nominating for the over age 80 division. The upcoming Barrington Coast Seniors Tournament will be our first indoor tournament being held in the newly built section of the Iron Arena Stadium in Taree.
Some of our players enjoy participating in competitive tournaments throughout Australia. At the recent 2026 NSW Pickleball Championships, competitors from Hallidays Point Pickleball Club bagged a total of 1 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals with an amazing 90% of our players competing in the medal rounds.
