Matt McGrath joins Pickleball Australia Board
Pickleball Australia is thrilled to announce the appointment of Matt McGrath as a director on the Pickleball Australia Association Board as of November 2025.
Matt brings an impressive history of board experience from two of Australia’s largest sporting organisations, alongside significant expertise from a successful professional career in the retail sector.
Matt's professinal experience spans 30 years in retail, where he notably owned and operated 16 Telstra Shop operations across Sydney, which became the largest independently owned business before its acquisition by Telstra Corporation in 2022.
Matt’s extensive governance background began on the board of the Australian Turf Club (ATC), culminating in a maximum four-year term as Chairman (2018–2022). During this period, he also served as Chair of Infrastructure and on the Finance Sub Committee. Following his tenure, he was awarded Life Membership of the ATC. Matt has also been on the Cronulla Sharks NRL Board as a Director for the past four years and is Chair of Infrastructure. He was also Chair of the Life Membership Committee and created a new standard for Hall of Fame and Immortal recognition.
Matt has been playing Pickleball for over two years and plays socially in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney. He is active in tournaments and has a strong understanding of the sport and its growth.
“Bringing my Board and Commercial experience to a sport I really enjoy playing is an unique opportunity,” Matt said. “As the peak Pickleball body working with the States and the many Associations whom host the over 23,000 Members, its exceptionally important Pickleball Australia has a robust strategy and plans to navigate the future of this high growth sport.”
Matt joins existing Director and Board Chairwoman Jen Ramamurthy, Vice Chairman, Nicholas Cooper and Directors, Kaden Hensel, Jodie Dunstan, Amy Hill, Nik Shetty, Mia La Burniy and Wayne Spanner.
