Team Australia set to compete at the 2025 Pickleball World Cup in Florida

Gold Coast, Queensland, 28th October, 2025

Pickleball Australia is proud to announce the departure of the Team Australia to compete at the 2025 Pickleball World Cup in Florida, USA. Represented in both the Open and Senior division, the Australian contingent will be captained by National Champions Sarah Burr and Martin Clark, each bringing their trademark skill, leadership and passion to the global stage. 

The World Cup will see Australia line up against 70 elite teams from across the globe, further cementing the nation’s growing reputation in the world of pickleball. 

Our Opens team finds themselves at the top of Pool G along with Slovakia, India and Costa Rica and our Seniors Team find themselves in a stacked pool alongside USA, Costa Rica and Team Independent Athlete. 

The top two teams from each pool after completion of the round robin stage, will progress to the elimination stage. 

Brendan Lee, Executive Officer of Pickleball Australia said the team’s selection highlights the sports remarkable rise and the strength of Australia’s player base. “Pickleball continues to unite communities across Australia, and the opportunity for our athletes to represent the green and gold on the world stage is something truly special. Their dedication and professionalism embody the momentum and passion driving pickleball’s growth nationwide”. 

Pickleball Australia is also delighted to share that JCP Growth has continued their support of Australian pickleball and have secured the rights as the Official Team Sponsor, driving the future of pickleball in Australia and supporting the national program as it continues to expand. 

John Myers, Principal of JCP Growth, shared his enthusiasm for backing the athletes as they take on the world’s best, “It’s a privilege to support team Australia as they compete in the Pickleball World Cup. These players represent the spirit of Australian sport – determination, camaraderie and pride. We’re thrilled to play a part in helping them showcase their talents on the international stage”. 

Team Captain Sarah Burr said representing Australia is both humbling and inspiring, “Wearing the green and gold is the ultimate honour. Our team is ready, focused, and determined to make Australia proud. 

Senior Team Captain Martin Clark added, “This World Cup is an opportunity to show just how far Australian pickleball has come. We’ll give everything we’ve got to compete with the world’s best and bring our best game to every point”. 

Head Coach Mike Newell praised the teams preparation and the growing depth of talent across the Australian pickleball landscape, “Our players have worked tirelessly to be here, and their commitment has been incredible. We’ve built a team that’s not only talented, but resilient and united. This World Cup is a fantastic opportunity to measure ourselves against the best. We’re ready”!

The 2025 Pickleball World Cup will be held at The Fort, Florida, USA from the 27th of October until 2nd of November 2025 features 70 countries from across the globe.

Seniors Team:

Martin Clark (QLD) – Captain, Naomi Amakawa (NSW), Ivan Stride (NSW), Terrie Robson (ACT), Tek Tea (NSW) and Angela Green (TAS)
