Tour De Cure - Step out for Cancer
On November 2, 2025, Pickleball Australia and Pickleball NSW teamed up with Tour de Cure for their boldest fundraising event yet. It was an incredible day!
The Tour de Cure invited participants to walk, jog, or run along Sydney's most iconic sporting venues. With options of a 6km walk or a 5km/10km run, every step makes a difference to end childhood cancer. The event was more than just a fitness challenge; it was a celebration of community, compassion, and hope. The course wound its way through Sydney, finishing in style at the Royal Randwick Racecourse, where participants were greeted with a lively festival atmosphere.
More than 2,000 enthusiastic participants took part, enjoying live music, family-friendly activities, and exciting giveaways. A pop-up pickleball court hosted by Pickleball Australia was a crowd favourite, buzzing with energy from the moment the gates opened until the very last song played.
Volunteers from The Shire Pickleball and Bondi Pickleball clubs joined Pickleball Australia staff in introducing hundreds of newcomers to the game. From complete beginners to returning players, many had their chance to grab a paddle and hit the court. The inclusive nature of the game of pickleball left many going home with a new interest and firsthand experience of the sport.
The event was a resounding success, with participants and supporters collectively raising over $300,000 to fund vital children’s cancer research. An incredible effort from all those who made it happen.
Donations are still open if you’d like to make a difference and contribute to this life-changing cause. Visit the Step Out for Cancer website and show your support.
